FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: 5 national sponsors join us

After a long period of controversy and uncertainty, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was finally able to secure the support of five national sponsors just three days before the tournament. Three of them are UAPs/Government Ministries.

Hero MotoCorp, PowerGrid, NTCP, Odisha Tourism and United Phosphorus have come forward in support of the Women’s World Cup taking place in India from October 11-30 in Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai.

An announcement in this regard was made on Sunday by Kalyan Chaubey, chairman of the local organizing committee, in Delhi on Sunday.

Each of them reportedly pumped Rs 5 crore each for the World Cup, sources told e4m.

“We are extremely grateful to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the Minister of Energy and New and Renewable Energy, RK Singh, for their contribution to the organization of this major international tournament. We also express our deep gratitude to NTPC Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India, UPL, Hero MotoCorp and Odisha Tourism,” Chaubey said.

“Our public sector units have always supported the growth and development of the sport. Their dedication to paving the way for young women to get into football and be inspired brings me great joy and hope for the future of Indian football,” he added.

Due to uncertainty and legal issues, the AIFF has been able to declare these sponsorship deals so far. e4m reported on August 25 on how the FIFA-AIFF fight had cast a cloud over sponsorship deals.
