‘Croma’s 2021 Unboxed’ decodes key consumer buying trends at Croma and croma.com stores


Croma, India’s omnichannel electronics retailer, has unveiled consumer electronics buying trends for the past year, at its online store www.croma.com and nationwide stores. Entitled “Croma’s 2021 Unboxed”, it decodes the main consumer trends observed, based on purchasing behavior in Croma stores and on croma.com.

Some of the key trends highlighted are as follows:

Digital channels have grown four times faster than offline channels, indicating an acceleration in digital consumer adoption
Smartphones: Blue dethroned black as the most sought-after smartphone color of 2021 with 4 in 10 consumers opting for the color of the Indian cricket team
Televisions: India has grown big with 55-inch televisions showing the fastest growth as they focus on the home to become the leading center of entertainment for families
Audio: The sound bar has been the fastest growing home audio gadget this year, overtaking more complex speaker systems as the go-to audio accessory for consumers
Washing machines: Indians washed clothes equivalent to the weight of 22,000 dinosaurs during the year, with health and hygiene remaining at the forefront of consumer concerns
· Grooming: Indian men were found to be much more concerned with their appearance with 13 men purchasing grooming products for every shopper – can Mr. Universe’s title be far behind?
Games: The PS5 console has won the title of ‘Most Elusive Gadget’, with huge global demand and chip shortages wreaking havoc with supplies
Kitchen Appliances: For a nation that loves tea, coffee was on the rise – Purchases of coffee makers doubled
