Ventura County real estate couple sees continued success with Homes.com
In 2001, Jack Stevenson moved to St. George, Utah to develop homes and spent nine years doing mortgages with his brother-in-law before returning to California and settling in the area. Camarillo in 2009.
It was then that he moved to the real estate side of the industry, along with his wife, Bonnie, who got his license and joined him six years ago. Today, the couple, married for 32 years, are part of the Realty ONE Group Summit real estate team in Ventura County, California.
âWe do about 20 transactions a year and have been the most productive couple in our office for the past six years,â says Jack. “We’ve been in the $ 10 million plus club every year, and it’s almost equal on the buy-side and sign-up side.”
For example, in 2020 the couple saw eight listings and 10 buyers, and the couple had their highest-grossing year ever with $ 12.3 million in sales.
Although the couple have been internet marketing from the start, their experiences have been hit and miss and they haven’t always seen the return on investment they expected.
Earlier this year, Jack got a call from Homes.com and signed up for a special offer on four zip codes, hoping for better than what he had experienced in the past with others.
âThe Homes.com seller told us that he has initiated major changes in his website and in his marketing to drive traffic to the website,â says Jack. âThey had also added a concierge program where prospects would be followed by Homes.com on our behalf, and that really interested me,â he adds. âNot only do they help track viable applicants, but they can also distinguish false ones, and that saves us time. “
Since the price was 80% lower for twice the coverage area, Jack teamed up with Homes.com as a happy man. But that happiness only grew when he and his wife put three Homes.com customers into receivership in the first 30 days.
âWe had a quick response and it worked really well,â says Bonnie. âPart of that, I think, is the fact that we tend to answer our phones and not let them go to voicemail. Homes.com also sends SMS and email updates, and we call the number immediately when it appears to be a viable lead.
Since joining Homes.com, the Stevensons have only had appreciation for their sales rep’s level of responsiveness whenever they have a question.
âAbout a week after the account was created, she made an appointment with me and spent about an hour showing me some of the different things we could do to improve our experience with CRM,â says Jack. “She also showed me some of the different tips associated with their software system, which was very valuable.”
One of the additions Jack has taken advantage of is becoming the Preferred Agent on all of his Homes.com listings, which has seen three of his listings show up immediately.
âIt’s a great feature and it’s something I love,â Jack concludes. âWe usually give marketing at least a year to see if we’re going to keep it, but I think that decision has already been made for us. We are very happy with what we have seen so far.
